someone wrote down that he couldn't understand what was so revolutionary about this CD and gave it 3 stars, okay, but let's talk.'Rock' and music itself wasn't considered or even garnered much use as an 'art form'. The Beatles were one of the few bands at that time who were breaking that trend and not just writing plain vanilla sun-fun rhynming love songs. From Revolver on (though Rubber Soul could be debated to have started this trend), the Beatles started to focus more on the production and lyrics of their songs. The lyrics started to become more abstract, more poetic and cryptic. They started to develop (at that time at least) powerful recording techniques and incorporating them into their arsenal (sitar, backwards recording, double-tracked vocals, etc.). Sgt. Peppers revolutionized a music industry as to give actual acceptance to music as a form of art. Finally lyrics were deemed 'important' enough to be placed on the cover. The collage of sound effects and trickery on this album were mind-blowing back then but fizzle when compared to today. As far as influential goes, i could name several people (such as hendrix, who covered Sgt. Peppers... live in concert the night it was released) who have called this album as 'influential' and 'powerful'. Songs were more intricately produced at this point (which was not necesarily a good thing). this wasn't their best record by far (revolver, white album) but it was their most important.

SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND is one of the greatest Beatles albums out there. Here's the lowdown: 1. SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND This song starts out with people talking and laughing like they're at a party. Then, a funky guitar solo kicks in. It makes it sound like a live performance. 2. WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS With Ringo (aka Billy Shears) on lead vocal, this is a cute song. 3. LUCY IN THE SKY WITH DIAMONDS This Beatles classic was inspired by a picture drawn by three-year-old Julian Lennon. 4. GETTING BETTER This has a nice electric guitar sound. 5. FIXING A HOLE The words don't make sense if you're trying to get a story out of it, but the rest is pretty cool. 6. SHE'S LEAVING HOME This is posible the sadest Beatles song out there. It is slow and the lyrics made me cry. Make sure you have a handkerchief ready when your'e listening to this one. 7. BEING FOR THE BENEFIT OF MR KITE! This song sounds like it's at a circus. The instrumental part is very psychadelic and weird. 8. WITHIN YOU WITHOUT YOU George Harrison sure writes weird songs, doesn't he? This five minute song sounds like an Aztec beat. 9. WHEN I'M SIXTY-FOUR This song wil cheer you up. It's a nice, soft Paul song. 10. LOVELY RITA The tune is upbeat and the words are clever. 11. GOD MORNING GOOD MORNING This song has a lots of added-in special effects, like the sounds of farm animals. 12. SGT PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND (REPRISE) The finale for the album is about the same as Track 1. 13. A DAY IN THE LIFE Now this is a STRANGE song! The regular song part is okay, but then comes a booming piano chord followed by ten seconds of silence, then you hear people talking like they're at a dinner party. Weird. All in all, SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND is a winner.

Nobody has to tell you about Sgt.Pepper's influence, its the Citizen Kane of pop music. But as far as the greatest Beatles album of all time,Revolver takes that title.Any way you look at it Sgt.Pepper is the hieght of their studio work, where songs like Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds,Mr Kite, and of course A Day In The Life will silence anyone who rip on The Beatles. From the start SPLHCB was Paul McCartney's brainchild, where he created a fictitios rock band to move away from being "The Beatles".The title track(in a brilliant medley with Ringo's singing spotWith a Little Help From My Friends),Getting Better, and When I'm 64 shows Paul versitility with different styles of music with extraordinary results.Within You,Without You is George Harrison's best Raga song of the trio he recorded with the group(Love You To &The Inner Light rounds them out).Unfortunatly,Pepper has been labeled a psychedelic album.Although chemical consumption was one of the factors in making this album,Magical Mystery Tour was their real foray into psychedelic music. One of my many gripes about Pepper are the rip-offs that followed(Her Satanic Majesties Request,After Bathing at Baxter's)as well as that 1978 turkey of a movie. But like anything else in art,the more imitated and ripped off,the greater the art.
